When I started to film /afk, I had no clue where I was headed.  In fact, if someone had told me that I would be working on this film for over six years, I may have rethought my decision to start filming.  Maybe I am a commitment-phobe.  Anyways... I was weeks from graduating and was looking for something to take the place of my studies.  And, being a film student, I figured I needed a project.

A bit of history may be important right here.  My brothers (Chris, Brian and Ross) and I, have always been big into games.  We played D&D, Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Top Secret, Vampire, Cosmic Encounters, Battletech, Magic, Command & Conquer, Everquest, Warcraft, Starcraft...yeah, we pretty much played it all.  So, when I heard that Blizzard was making an MMO version using their Warcraft franchise, I figured it would be big.  It turned out to be HUGE; both as a game and how its presence would influence my life as a human being, brother, and filmmaker.

My lifelong goal as a creator is to touch the individual.  If I can make someone feel something, I have done my job.  It is my sincere hope that my passion for this film is contagious; and that you find yourself as big of a fan of /afk as I am.

Let it be known that this film would not be where it is today without the assistance of many talented people.  In particular, I would like to acknowledge Alex Stickroth, who was instrumental throughout the process.  When we started to digitize and transcribe the footage, who knew the size of our project would grow in degrees of magnitude.  /afk would not exist without his talents.
