Alex Stickroth was born in Toledo, Ohio. With three sisters and four brothers it's not stretch to say he comes from a large family. At the age of 12 his family moved to Tucson, Arizona where he developed a love for music and storytelling. Within days of moving to Tucson, Alex met brothers Matt and Nick Gagnon. In January of 2003 Alex graduated from The Conservatory of Arts and Sciences in tempe, Arizona. During his time at school, Alex not only fulfilled his desire to learn about the engineering of music, but sound itself.
Alex moved to Los Angeles, California after his tenure and immediately worked in the Music and Post Production Audio industry. After years of honing his craft as an audio mixer, Alex decided to branch out. He began shooting directing and editing several small projects, ranging from short films and skits to documentaries.
In the midst of Alex's handful of projects, he was approached by filmmaker Greg Stuetze. Greg was two years into a film called Away From Keyboard or "/afk". Alex dropped everything and decided that this would be his first feature project. After four years of bad cuts and multiple attempts to score the film, they finally finished. /afk was selected into several film festivals and won the audience award at the 2011 Arizona Underground Film Festival. During the production of /afk the film, Alex co-founded Galaxy Place Productions with several close friends. Galaxy Place is a multi-dimensional production company founded in 2007. The company has since grown and is currently in production of several projects. Feature films/ music/ television/ and comics are only the beginning of what Galaxy Place intends to create.
